HP provides “green” storage technology
HP introduced “green” storage technology that can cut storage array power and cooling costs in data centres.
Using hardware and software technologies such as EVA Dynamic Capacity Management (DCM), Vsnap and FATA disk drives, the EVAs optimizes hard drive utilization, eliminate unnecessary HDD storage disk purchases, shrink their carbon footprint and manage IT resources and storage provisioning tasks.
DCM software enables customers to double capacity utilization rates and delay the purchase of additional hard drives. Leveraging the new virtual disk service (VDS) volume shrink feature in Microsoft Windows Server 2008, DCM continuously monitors storage utilization rates and automatically grows or shrinks host volumes to match application data needs.
The LTO-4 technology and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256-bit data encryption protects user data from unauthorized access if cartridges are lost or stolen while being stored or transported offsite.
The LTO-4 Ultrium1840 includes HP Data Protector Express Single Server edition software with hardware encryption support at no added cost. LTO-4 Ultrium 1840 tape drives also will be integrated and available in HP StorageWorks MSL, EML and ESL E-Series Tape Libraries.
HP ProLiant 100 and 300 series servers and available with either a SCSI or USB interface, the DAT 160 delivers backup speeds of up to 50 GB per hour and offers up to 160 GB of capacity on a single cartridge.

Mendocino Software supports VMware ESX Server
Mendocino Software announced that InfiniView, now supports VMware ESX Server, Version 3 and higher.
By adding platform support for VMware, Mendocino now supports a variety of operating system environments, including Windows, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX and Linux.
InfiniView technology features transparent, continuous data capture and the ability to present one or more “views” as readable, writable, recoverable, disk-based images of any previous point in time on demand. It does not impact production applications, and takes up no additional storage space.
InfiniView’s capabilities are applicable to a wide variety of heterogeneous servers and storage, work with a variety of volume managers, file systems, and applications, and do not tie up additional storage space.
Purkinje unveils e-Reports module
Purkinje announced the unveiling of its e-Reports module. The module allows users to access demographic and clinical data in order to define, display and print reports.
User-friendly and bilingual, e-Reports was designed with the healthcare professional in mind: users need only enter desired demographic or clinical search criteria for the application to generate a report that can be either displayed or printed. The module allows the users themselves to create and modify several types of reports, including appointment lists, recall lists, patient lists, labels and letters.
What makes e-Reports so innovative is its ability to generate reports based on over 40 demographic and clinical parameters such as patient age, gender, attending physician, medication, diseases, immunizations, lab results as well as text fields.
