Many Apple Inc. fans are intrigued by the iPhone 4S and its new voice-recognizing personal assistant, Siri.
While previous iPhones accepted some voice commands, the new app makes speaking to the phone much more natural and conversational. Ask Siri where the nearest sushi restaurant is, and get a list of options on a map. Ask if it will be raining on the weekend, and Siri will tell you the weather forecast for your current location.
But Apple isn’t the first tech company to make its voice-recognition system more natural. Ford did the same thing with its Sync technology in cars like the Edge. We checked it out at the Canadian International Auto Show last February.
