Hootsuite streamlines social media image sharing with new iOS app

Much as we’d like to believe otherwise, a book’s cover – or ad’s imagery – counts for a lot.

To cite one source, marketing software firm Kissmetrics has found that information with imagery is 43 per cent more persuasive and receives 94 per cent more views than than information without.

With that fact in mind, Vancouver-based social media aggregation platform Hootsuite has introduced Hootsuite Enhance, an iPhone app that helps marketers easily find, edit, augment, and post high-quality content across their social media accounts.

In a Nov. 10 statement, Hootsuite CMO Penny Wilson said the company’s goal was to help marketers increase audience engagement by humanizing social media content.

“We’re in a mobile-first, visually driven age,” she said. “Now more than ever, the old saying is true – a picture is worth a thousand words.”

It’s not as if marketers are unaware of the impact good visuals can have on their efforts: a survey last year by the CMO Council 93 found that per cent believed photo content was important to their marketing strategies, yet barely a quarter had a process in place to aggregate, organize, and manage visual assets across multiple teams.

Adding the robust photo-editing features of Hootsuite Enhance to the company’s core platform allows markerters to create photo-based content that will be ready to use across networks including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.

Specifically, the Hootsuite Enhance app features:

  • Image cropping tools with pre-set resolution sizes for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other social networks;
  • An image finder that allows users to source photos directly in the app from a large database of stock images, or the user’s own library;
  • Special effects including stickers, borders, and filters;
  • A logo/tech overlay tool with 30 different fonts.

The Hootsuite Enhance app can be downloaded free from the iTunes store here.
