Apricorn launches 8GB MicroKey
Apricorn Inc. released the 8GB version of its MicroKey portable data solution.
The MicroKey, now available in 4GB, 6GB and 8GB capacities, is bus-powered and comes in a impact-resistant aluminum alloy case with dimensions of 3.4” x 2” x .50” and weighs 2.5 ounces. The MicroKey also incorporates a USB 2.0 connector that swivels.
The MicroKey incorporates plug-n-play technology and is hot swappable. Included with the MicroKey package is a protective carrying case, a one metre USB extension cable, Second Copy 2000 Synchronizing Software and Cryptainer Encryption Software.
The minimum product requirements are a Pentium CPU, 32MB of RAM, USB port, CD drive and Windows 2000/XP or Mac OS 9.2 and later or Mac OS 10.x and later. The MSRP for the 8GB model is US$199.
Dell announces release of Dell/EMC AX storage systems
Dell launched an enhanced Dell/EMC AX storage system that features software and hardware advances designed to simplify storage consolidation while providing increased system availability and ease of configuration. Customers can choose the AX150 for Fibre Channel, or the AX150i for iSCSI. Both are designed to support up to 10 servers and 6TB of storage.
Featured enhancements include increased power redundancy, additional iSCSI ports and enhanced snapshot software. The product features 250GB and 500GB 3.5-inch SATA II disk drives and models ranging from 750GB (three 250GB drives) to 6,000GB (twelve 500GB drives) of raw disk capacity. The product includes EMC Navisphere Express Management Suite, EMC Power Path, EMC SnapView Express and Configuration Wizards.
The Dell/EMC AX150 with Fibre Channel connectivity or the AX150i with iSCSI connectivity start at $6,700.
Win.rar releases version 3.60 beta 1 of WinRAR
win.rar GmbH and rarlab.com have released a beta version of WinRAR 3.60.
WinRAR is a 32-bit Windows version of RAR Archiver, an archive and archive manager application. RAR files can usually compress content up to 30 per cent more than ZIP files. The highlight of the offering is WinRAR’s general and multimedia compression, processing of non-RAR archives, long filename support, programmable self-extracting archives (SFX), damaged archive repair, authenticity verification, embedded file comments and encryption.
WinRAR is available in over 40 different languages and runs on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/Me/XP. With WinRAR 3.60 beta 1 users can now display the folder tree panel which allows for easier navigation in disk and archive folders. The upgrade to 3.60 is free for registered users. Also available is a multithreaded version of RAR compression algorithm, which improves the compression speed on computers with several CPUs, dual core CPU and processors with hyper threading technology.
Nokia announces new enterprise device management offering for mobile carriers
Nokia released Intellisync Device Management for carriers, which allows mobile operators to provide device management and security services to their corporate customers.
With Intellisync Device Management, Nokia provides two deployment models for operators to deliver device management services to their Enterprise customers. In the first, operators can provide the Intellisync device management service from a central NOC (network operating centre) using a hierarchical Web-based system that enables them to support individual enterprise customers. Operators can charge customers a monthly or an annual fee to manage their fleet of mobile devices—performing a range of services including device security enforcement, application installation and configuration, device inventory and reporting, device backup/restore, and other functions. In the second deployment model, the system can be deployed behind-the-firewall to enable larger enterprise customers to control all aspects of the system.
The new product is part of Nokia’s Unified Device Management Solution offering for enterprises, mobile operators and service providers that will help operators manage all their customer segments and device management operations.
