InstallAware releases update to its setup authoring tool
InstallAware Software Corp. has released InstallAware 6, a setup authoring tool for ISVs and enterprises deploying products, patches, updates and device drivers. InstallAware 6.0 creates Windows Installer setup packages with support for Microsoft .Net 2.0, Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005 Service Pack 1, Windows Vista, 64-bit operating systems and Driver Installation Frameworks 2.01.
MSIcode is InstallAware’s fourth-generation language for creating Windows Installer databases without requiring programming skills. MSIcode features conditional statements and branching execution. Also new to InstallAware 6 is Driver Installation Frameworks 2.01 (DIFx) support, hybrid 64/32 bit installations from a single setup file, the ability to minimize setups to the system tray and show message balloons, Windows Task Scheduler support and detection of Virtual PC and VMware virtual machines. The setup user interface now supports building tabbed dialogs, like those used in the Office 2007 installer. A new sample project illustrates detecting and connecting to instances of Microsoft SQL Server locally and on the network, together with pre-built dialogs that enumerate and test a server connection.
InstallAware is available in four editions, with prices starting at US$199.
IBM unveils new software to accelerate global software delivery

HP releases all-in-one notebook docking station
HP introduced the 3-in-1 NAS Docking Station is designed for business notebook PCs and includes network-attached storage (NAS) for data backup, recovery and file sharing in addition to docking features.
The HP NAS Docking Station offers a desktop-like computing experience for HP business notebook PC users requiring docking capabilities, data backup and recovery and file sharing that makes information accessible. The solution integrates a 160 GB SATA hard drive that is accessible as a network drive. HP Backup and Recovery Manager software allows for backup to help prevent data loss and reduce potential downtime. The HP 3-in-1 NAS Docking Station also delivers file sharing with enhanced security via an embedded NAS Configuration Utility.
The HP 3-in-1 NAS Docking Station is expected to start at $499 and will also be available as a limited time promotional HP SmartBuy SKU for $399. The product is expected to be available in late June.
TimeSpring introduces continuous data protection for Microsoft Windows SharePoint
