Do you rely on internal IT staff, or would you rather outsource? Where does your innovation come from?
We rely on internal staff for most of the tasks and outsource only when no internal experts are available. |
How do you measure the value created by IT to be innovative and how do you know if it works or fails?
We measure customer response and then compare these results to others in the same area of business.
In your business or industry, where do you see growth coming from and how does IT fit into the picture?
Growth will come from customer demands and it will play a very important role in solving customer problems in a timely and economical manner.
What makes your business unique and how do you differentiate yourself from the competition?
We achieved our strength through technology and the proper training of IT staff.
When it comes to building your business or new product innovation, do you like to build any of your own IT applications or do you prefer packaged solutions?
If a packaged solution exists and it handles our needs, we will use it, otherwise we will build our own.

Do you rely on internal IT staff, or would you rather outsource? Where does your innovation come from?
With their in-depth knowledge of BDC business and systems, our internal staff are best positioned to contribute to BDC’s evolution. External resources are used to address peaks in demand and fill specialized knowledge requirements. |
How do you measure the value created by IT to be innovative and how do you know if it works or fails?
IT initiatives must be closely aligned to corporate objectives. Establishing our annual IT strategic plan ensures coherence with the company’s business objectives. Meanwhile, the prioritization of projects by senior business leaders ensures further tactical alignment and guarantees. User surveys assess success.
In your business or industry, where do you see growth coming from and how does IT fit into the picture?
Clear, well-organized and extensive historical data on our financing and consulting activities combined with effective IT tools provide our business partners with the intelligence required to analyze trends and forecast future movement.
It’s a combination of products, service and brand loyalty.
What makes your business unique and how do you differentiate yourself from the competition?
BDC actively supports the development and growth of Canadian SMEs. In addition to offering entrepreneurs financial and consulting solutions under one roof, we also provide access to pre-seed, seed and venture capital investment.
When it comes to building your business or new product innovation, do you like to build any of your own IT applications or do you prefer packaged solutions?
Applications built in-house provide the flexibility to best support our core business products and services. Packaged applications are selected to support other functions such as finance and HR.
