4 benefits of making the move to Windows 10

Many business users are reluctant to upgrade to Windows 10. Some of them simply don’t see the need to upgrade. Other business users don’t feel it would be worth the risk. If their current system is working, they don’t want to change it. They prefer to keep the operating system they are familiar with and know how to use. But Microsoft is making the decision to push Windows 10 on more business users.

Computers running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 Pro will start displaying pop-up reminders to upgrade. In spite of the reluctance to make the switch, there are a lot of benefits to using Windows 10. Windows 10 is faster than previous versions. It comes with built-in voice recognition technology. Windows 10 is more secure and offers better network monitoring than previous versions.

Speed

Speed is a big advantage in Windows 10. Having a fast operating system is important for all companies. Having slow PCs can limit employee productivity. They will not be able to get as much done in the same amount of time if their PCs are running too slow. However, having a fast operating system will allow them the get their work done much more efficiently.

They achieved this higher speed with new hardware and by optimizing the configuration. The biggest difference will be noticed when you turn a Windows 10 PC on. You will notice it powers up much faster than previous versions of windows. You will also notice an overall improvement in system performance.

Voice recognition

Voice recognition is one of the great things about smartphones. Voice recognition on smartphones allow us to quickly make phone calls, set appointments, and access our apps. This voice recognition technology comes standard in Windows 10. The voice recognition software is called Cortana. It can access files, set reminders, and more. These features will make life easier for business users.

They can save time by not having to manually navigate their file system. This efficiency improves productivity. Cortana is also used for research. If a business user has a question they need to have answered, Cortana will look it up for them.

Security

All business users should keep security in mind. We are becoming more and more dependent on technology. As this happens, we have more at risk if there are any security issues. A computer that does not have updated security features is at a higher risk of getting a virus. A computer virus can steal vital company data. It can erase important files and folders.

Windows 10 introduces several new security features. Secure boot is one of them. Secure boot only allows programs that are approved by Windows to run at startup. This is will help combat malware and spyware that try to start each time you power up your PC.

Network monitoring

It is vital for IT professionals to constantly analyze the network’s performance. If they don’t monitor the network, it will be harder to notice problems before they start to progress. It will be more difficult to troubleshoot network issues. However, if the IT team is able properly analyze the network, they can spot problems ahead of time. You will be able to pinpoint where problems are coming from.

You will also be able to monitor peak usage times. Advanced network monitoring will need to be done from a layer 3 router. However, Windows 10 has some basic network monitoring tools. Some of these tools are enhancements of tools that were implemented in Windows 8.1. For example, you can see each application’s network usage from inside the task manager. This can help IT professionals determine if an application is infected with a virus. If an application is using more bandwidth than normal, it could be a sign that something is wrong.
