Saying it with mirrors

It isn’t your bathroom variety mirror.

Mirror Image is a digital display, enclosed in a stainless steel bezel, housing a sensor system.

Mirror Image displays a brand image or video, but when a patron comes in the vicinity of the display hey presto — the brand image vanishes, and the display becomes a fully functioning mirror. When the person steps away, the brand image instantly re-appears. Cool eh?

Huntersville, N.C.-based LuxuryTec developed this interactive technology and showcased it last week at the Las Vegas Convention Center.  The focus was on the “digital signage capabilities” of the technology – its ability to offer marketers very specific consumer engagement metrics. This is accomplished through a sensor that records every consumer engagement.

In the U.S. Luxury Tec tells us, Mirror Image will be located at high-traffic venues – airports, professional arenas and college, casinos, et al – recording interactions and providing very useful metrics to marketers.

Okay so it’s a cool technology. But why should we give a rat’s #%* if it’s just a U.S. thing?

Well here’s why.

The technology is coming to Canada, brought to us by KB Media Inc., an advertising and marketing agency that opened shop in Toronto recently.

KB Media has exclusive rights for the Canadian launch of Mirror Image.

Company founders are CEO Jim Kirby, formerly of Publicis Canada, The Marketing Store Worldwide and IMG Canada, and David Brisson, who’s experience includes work with the NBA, NFL, NHL and PGA Tour.

Good for you KB Media.

The next time I step into a store or a public washroom, who knows, perhaps I may encounter one of those magical displays.
