Air Canada is using virtual reality to showcase the ‘Air Canada Experience’

Air Canada is getting creative with its marketing ideas. The Canadian airline is the first in Canada to turn to virtual reality technology as a way to showcase its in-flight experience.

Designed for travel agents and potential customers, Air Canada is using virtual reality to replicate the experience one would have on its Boeing 787 Dreamliner flights. The experience allows users to explore the Dreamliner’s three cabins: economy, premium economy, and international business. A review of the airline’s global route network is also available.

While in the virtual reality experience, users can use, move, or open amenity kits, an Air Canada enRoute magazine, tray tables, and in-flight entertainment guided by an audio-based flight attendant. And if you want even more fun, you can experience some virtual food via an added dinner service. For example, in the International Business Class cabin, users can order a virtual meal that comes with a glass of wine.

And according to Air Canada’s vice president of global sales, Duncan Bureau, this virtual reality experience is already paying off.

“Air Canada is always developing new ways to enhance the customer experience and to engage partners such as the travel agent community, which plays a key role in helping our customers select the travel options best suited to them,” Bureau said in a statement. “We have already seen an increase in bookings since we began using this technology.”
