Alan Computers Ltd. has announced CyberGuard 1.0. Priced at US$49.95, CyberGuard delivers a set of basic security tools, including Encryptor, Surf Cleaner, Eraser, Stenograph and Virtual Safe.
With CyberGuard you’ll be able to encrypt your files using asymmetric encryption technology with a public or private key. The length of a key may be 16384 bit. The asymmetric encryption technology not only encrypts files, but also compresses them, reducing their size up to three times.
Besides, CyberGuard will help you protect your information by erasing your Internet usage traces, which are stored in history of the browser, cookies, and cache. You can also erase your usage data in recycle bin, recent documents, Windows Temp directory, Windows Media Player, WinRar, Paint and WordPad.
Another specialty in CyberGuard is the stenograph functionality. It is another way to communicate to each other some secret information by embedding hidden messages inside graphic files. This doesn’t alter the actual content or increase the size of the original file – only two bytes are added. Prior to embedding, CyberGuard will encrypt files using one of the algorithms of your choice: RC2, RC4, DES, TripleDES or TripleDES 112.
CyberGuard can also create an encrypted hidden local disk or a “virtual safe”. It’ll store the secret information in the encrypted form. When this “safe” is closed, it becomes invisible to the system. The data is encrypted using the following algorithms: AES 256-bit, AES 128-bit, TripleDES, RC4, Twofish and Blowfish. Another advantage of the CyberGuard’s safe is that there are no chances that it can be stolen from the computer. Even if a password is known, the safe can be used only on the computer it has been created on.
