The Nokia Lumia 920 smartphone is on sale in Canada today from Rogers Wireless, Microsoft Corp.’s preferred partner for Windows Phone 8.
This is the first smartphone available with Microsoft’s rebooted phone operating system and also being touted as the flagship device. Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer showed it off on stage yesterday at the launch event among other devices from HTC and Samsung.
The specs put this smartphone in the high perfromance category compared to other devices on the market. It has a dual-core Snapdragon 1.5 Ghz processor, 32 GB of internal storage, and 1 GB of RAM. Its camera offers an impressive 8.7 megapixels and the touch screen is a high-resolution 4.5-inches. As we found out when handling this device, those top-of-line specs add a bit of heft to the Lumia’s form factor, compared to some other smartphones on the market.
For pricing, Rogers is selling the device for $100 with a three-year contract. A store we inquired at offered a promotional price of $50 for today only.
