BlackBerry and Porsche Design unveil $2,000 Graphite smartphone

Mobility solutions vendor BlackBerry has teamed again with luxury design firm Porsche Design to launch another high-end luxury smartphone – the Porsche Design P’9983 Graphite smartphone from BlackBerry.

The newest model in Porsche and BlackBerry’s P’9983 line of high-end smartphones, the Graphite features exclusive graphite-metallic colored elements and hand-wrapped leather on the back door cover. The keyboard is an exclusive keypad with specially crafted glass-like keys, plus blackened glass and a graphite stainless steel color frame.

“The P’9983 Graphite from BlackBerry was built especially for those who strive for success every day. This professional tool will deliver superior productivity, ultimate security and privacy as well as effective communication and collaboration,” said Ron Louks, president of devices and emerging solutions at BlackBerry, in a statement.

As with other Porsche BlackBerry models, users will have an exclusive Porsche Design PIN ID group – 2AAXXXXX.

“The iconic styling of the new P’9983 Graphite from BlackBerry is technically inspired with longevity, integrity, and individuality at its core,” said Roland Heiler, chief design officer of the Porsche Design Group, in a statement. “And it will offer a new way to express individual style with the luxury of being one step ahead.”

The Porsche Design P’9983 smartphone features all the benefits of the BlackBerry 10 platform, such as secure communication and collaboration, BlackBerry Blend for accessing messaging on your desktop, BlackBerry Assistant for managing work and personal contacts and events, and BlackBerry Hub for managing all your messages in one place.

A number of exclusive accessories are included with the smartphone, including a premium stereo headset, an international charging kit, a polishing cloth and a USB cable for high-speed data transfer. Users can choose from eight shades of leather on the back door and an exclusive, custom-designed leather pocket that includes technology that helps preserve battery power.

Availability is expecting in the coming weeks, but you can pre-order it now on BlackBerry’s web store for USD $1,950.
