German business software vendor SAP AG has taken the wraps off of SAP Business One version for SAP Hana, touting it as the first business management solution for small and midsize enterprises running fully in memory.
SAP claims the solution offers the complete small business essentials in one single user interface, from the operational level to the strategic level. Business One is SAP’s existing integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) targeted at the SME space.

It’s currently available on-premise or through a hosted, on-demand model. By offering a third option – as an appliance married with SAP’s Hana in-memory database – SAP said the speed offered by in-memory computing will help small businesses to “answer previously unsolvable problems” and increase user efficiency with out-of-the-box features such as enterprise search and interactive operational analysis.
According to SAP, the new offering enables real-time business insights from the same system that runs the transactional processing, eliminating the need for a separate data warehouse and thus helping lower costs and reduce IT landscape complexity.
