Communications & Networking goes behind bars

Computing Canada

At the end of February, Computing Canada will host a roundtable on outsourcing with participants from the vendor, user and legal communities.

As more organizations consider outsourcing their IT, either in whole or in part, we will explore the benefits and the

challenges they face in doing so.

If you have issues you think we should raise at the roundtable, please send your comments along to the editor.

Communications & Networking

Correctional Service Canada holds more than just humans against their will. It turns out a network technician for the federal prison system was so enthusiastic about a Fluke NetTool device, that he would not remand the gizmo to the custody of the vendor. Find out what other tools are being used to test and troubleshoot the Correctional Service’s IT systems in the March issue of Communications & Networking magazine, which also includes coverage of the Toronto Wireless User Group’s recent Voice over IP conference.

Communications & Networking has recruited Ron Scott, principal of consulting firm Scott & Associates, to its stable of columnists. Stay tuned for the April issue, which includes an update on the B.C. Interior Health Authority’s storage-area network, and a feature article on network security.

EDGE

April’s EDGE will take a security focus, with articles examining the burgeoning role of the chief security officer in the enterprise and strategies for corporations to protect themselves and their assets from cybersmear campaigns.

Early April will also see the fourth IT Business Report. Networked Storage: A User Guide will take a hands-on approach to storage provisioning, anatomy of a real-world storage solution, Storage Network Industry Association-approved certification and more.

In the May issue of EDGE, we’ll look at the convergence of wireless next and what it means to your enterprise networking strategy, and profile six wireless applications that pay.
