Consilient announces mobile e-mail Server for universities
Consilient announced the launch of mobile e-mail software that extends university e-mail servers to Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones and BlackBerry handhelds. The backbone of Consilient Push software is the open standard called Push-IMAP that enables universities and large enterprises to run mobile e-mail that scales to thousands of users with high traffic loads.
Consilient’s open standards software consists of a server and e-mail clients that allow faculty, staff and students to access their existing university e-mail accounts on mobile phones and wireless devices. It is a solution that connects directly to e-mail platforms that universities use, including Mirapoint, Stalker CommuniGate Pro, University of Washington, Sun Java System Messaging, Cyrus and Microsoft Exchange.

For individual departments and faculties looking for a mobility solution that doesn’t require internal IT, Consilient Push is also available as a hosted version for a monthly per subscriber fee. The hosted version of Consilient Push supports all the same e-mail servers that universities use and provides users with the end benefit of push e-mail on Nokia, Sony Ericsson and BlackBerry devices.
Privasoft introduces AccessPro Case Management 1.9
Privasoft Corp. announced the availability of AccessPro Case Management v.1.9. With this release, freedom of information (FOI) teams gain a solution for managing requests for information.
Many enhancements with this release are in response to Executive Order 13392, calling for improved agency disclosure of information under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
Among the guidelines recommended by the Department of Justice for improving FOIA processes are: automating processes, using automated tracking capabilities and receiving/responding to requests electronically to improve FOIA request handling procedures.
AccessPro Case Management is the backbone of the AccessPro Suite of FOI technologies, rounding off the features available in AccessPro Redaction and AccessPro Workgroup. With the AccessPro Suite, customers report processing more requests with fewer resources, the company claims.
LastMile Communications launches WDirect wireless media caching node
LastMile Communications has launched the a version of its WDirect 1000 Information Node. the node enables delivery of rich media and data for large or small Wi-Fi deployments in municipal, campus or enterprise environments. LastMile’s technology enables users with Wi-Fi enabled devices to access information and services.
The WDirect 1000 Information Node is a wall or post-mounted device containing local flash data storage, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and a wireless GPRS modem for monitoring and control. The system reduces unnecessary network traffic and diminishes backhaul dependency.
CrossTec releases product line of remote control, inventory, lab management and end point security products
CrossTec Corp. has introduced a line of remote support, lab management and security solutions under the CrossTec brand. The CrossTec brand replaces Danware Data’s NetOp line of products which CrossTec had distributed in North America in the past.
The line includes CrossTec Remote Control and CrossTec EMS for network administrators, CrossTec Secure for IT and educational security managers and CrossTec SchoolVue for classroom and PC lab management.
CrossTec is also offering toll-free support for partners and end users and a maintenance program called CrossCARE.
