A softphone application developed by CounterPath Corp., of Vancouver, B.C., was named most innovative VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) product for 2012 by the United Kingdom’s Internet service providers’ industry body.
CounterPath’s Bria iPad Edition mobile softphone app received the 2012 Most Innovative VoIP Product Award from the Internet Telephony Service Providers Association (ITSPA).
The ITSPA is a trade association which represents UK-based network operators, service providers and other businesses involved with the supply of VoIP services to business and residential consumers within the United Kingdom and across the European Union. The ITSPA Awards celebrate innovation and best practice in the VoIP industry.
Both CounterPath’s Bria iPhone Edition and Bria iPad Edition applications were named finalists in the Most Innovative VoIP Product/Service category, along with three other competing products.
“We are honored to be recognized by the ITSPA for our work in bringing seamless VoIP communications to a large contingent of mobile device users, Apple iPad users,” said Robert Brown, Vice President Product Marketing. “Our company’s mission to connect people across any platform, on any device and over any network is gaining momentum in the UK, Europe and farther afield, as evidenced by these accolades and by the market uptake of our desktop and mobile softphone products, and we are gratified to be creating innovative software solutions that change the way the world communicates.”
