“I am pleased to be able to join my counterparts from across the country to celebrate the success of those organizations that have embraced digital transformation and help communicate best practices to those who are just beginning the journey,” she said.
Simpson’s presentation will be delivered remotely from Saint John New, Brunswick and will focus on the role the public sector should play in supporting digital transformation. She will use case studies to showcase government success stories, but also explore the choke points that are evident as the government’s innovation agenda struggles to deliver the full benefits of digital government.
Passionate about building a digital society, Simpson has 26 years of experience in IT spanning telecom, software and consulting. She is Chair of the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation, Co-chair of NB+ and investment committee member of the Pond Deshpande Centre at the University of New Brunswick. She is one of the original founders of PropelICT.
She is involved in initiatives that focus on the leadership, entrepreneurship and STEM development for both youth and women of all ages. She has started her own social enterprise program, Up and Go, which is dedicated to building authentic, confident, self-assured, and decisive girls and young women who can achieve anything, building the next generation of business, government, and social leaders.
Other sessions at the conference include panels on digital transformation and healthcare, the impact of digital transformation on retail and the changing face of the country’s financial services industry. The conference will be followed by an awards ceremony honouring excellence in digital transformation. Nominations are still open and encouraged. The deadline for submissions is April 17, 2017.
Simpson isn’t the only newcomer to the event. Bill Hutchison, founding Chair of the iCanada Alliance, an organization pushing Canada to become one the world’s leading Intelligent Nations or “i-Nations,” has agreed to be a program ambassador.
New organization supporters include ICTC, a not-for-profit national centre of expertise for the digital economy, The Municipal Information Systems Association of Canada (MISA-AISM), the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATA), Digital Nova Scotia and the Canadian Wireless Trade Show. They join the CIO Association of Canada and IDC in the promotion of the awards program and the event.
