Canadian small businesses can now process payments to them using an iPhone app developed by PayPal. Canada is one of the first global markets to receive PayPal Here.
PayPal Here, a free thumb-sized card reader and an application turns iPhones into secure mobile payment systems.
The app makes it easy for businesses to accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express and PayPal payments on their smartphones anytime and anywhere. The app is being offered to a select number of merchants during an exclusive release period.
“We are solving a major pain point for small businesses by helping them say yes to customers who ask to pay by credit card or PayPal, without the businesses having to invest in expensive hardware and pay unexpected fees,” said Darrell MacMullin, managing director, PayPal Canada.
PayPal Here is now available for Apple iOS 4.0 and newer. Versions for Android devices will follow soon.
The service is competitively priced at 2.7 per cent for swiped card transactions and PayPal payments. The card reader device and app are free.
