A security intelligence software firm bought by IBM and a SaaS provider catering to the fast food sector are among this year’s nominees for the 2012 KIRA awards honouring the best in New Brunswick’s tech sector.
Q1 Labs, acquired by IBM last year for an undisclosedprice tag, is up against the aforementioned Quick Service Software inthe category for export products and services. Both companies are basedin Fredericton.

Quick Service’s Clearview solution, which integrates systems likeaccounting, point-of-sale and payroll for the restaurant industry, isused by clients such as McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Burger Kingand Tim Horton’s.
The KIRA awards were founded 14 years ago as the Knowledge IndustryRecognition and Achievement awards. This year’s hardware will be handedout on May 3 at the Fredericton Convention Centre. Other 2012 nomineesinclude C-Therm Technologies, Vinox International Corp. and AtwoodTechnology.
Companies vying for most promising startup are Enovex TechnologiesInc., Masitek Instruments Inc. and Spinzo Corp. The 2008 winner in thatcategory was Fredericton’s Radian6, acquired a year ago bySalesforce.com for about $320 million.
