IBM releases Notes and Domino with Web 2.0 in mind

IBM Corp. has announced a new version of Lotus Notes and Domino designed to help businesses take advantage of advances in hardware and Internet technologies. Major portability and productivity benefits include the ability to carry e-mail, Lotus Notes applications, and Web collaboration tools on USB devices such as memory keys or iPods plus powerful new Web extensions that speed collaboration via the Internet.

With this release, users can download and carry their personalized Lotus Notes environment in a pocket-size USB device and then connect to any other laptop or PC to create a replica of their Notes workplace in minutes. The ability to take Lotus Notes on-the-go provides customers greater choice and flexibility in how and where they deploy their collaboration environment.

IntelliResponse’s ‘one right answer’ campus Web solution

IntelliResponse is a campus-wide technology which helps higher educational institutions manage and answer high volume questions between the Institution and its online visitors: students, prospective students, faculty, alumni and parents.Based on the concept of ‘one right answer’ for every question asked, IntelliResponse’s technology, developed over 125 implementations on North American campus Web sites, includes a comprehensive and ‘intelligent’ database of the top 300 campus-related questions. Having handled more than 20 million inquiries over the past six years, this comprehensive and dynamic database adapts to fit each institution’s unique audience and needs. Live Reach Module – Web-based media escalation module where visitors are invited to engage in a real time chat, click-to-call, and call-me-back dialogue with staff, thereby providing the school with an opportunity to convert the anonymous visitors into next year’s students.

Smart Portal Module – Enables organizations to learn from their search data. All search entries are logged, revealing a virtual record of the visitor’s footprints throughout the dynamic environment.
