We’re pleased to be considered as finalists in two categories at the Canadian Online Publishing Awards in the business-to-business and scholarly division this year, hosted by Missauga, Ont.-based Masthead. Our sister publications are also being recognized; IT World Canada publications are finalists in eight different categories altogether.
This year, ITBusiness.ca is contending for “Best Mobile-Optimized Web site” and “Best Video or Multimedia Feature.” We were excited to debut our new mobile site alongside the relaunch of ITBusiness.ca back on Feb. 27.
Our developers took a responsive design approach so that ITBuiness.ca will look great on whatever screen you’re viewing it on – from widescreen cinematic monitor to smartphone. It adheres to the latest Web standards like HTML 5 and CSS 3 and allows access to the full content our site has to offer including video, comments, and social media sharing. The mobile site also goes beyond that by offering category menus and content frames ideal for a touch interface. Want to see our mobile site? Visit on your smartphone or tablet, or just shrink this window down and watch the site adapt in real-time! (Try it, it’s sort of fun.)
For our video, we elected to enter a segment from our flagship video series, All Hands On Tech. With the aim to demonstrate the most recent hardware releases from a business standpoint of performance, productivity, and usability, All Hands on Tech goes beyond the tech specs and delves into the experience of using technology. In the nominated segment, we deliver a review of the BlackBerry Q10 on the eve of its Canada-wide launch from a special venue – the owners box at the Rogers Centre.
We’ve been a part of COPA since its inception and have seen the awards program grow larger each year since it was first hosted in 2009. ITBusiness.ca has been honoured at previous awards shows, including winning best online-only Web site in 2009 and again in 2011. We’re always impressed the the calibre of the work exhibited by our peers in the various categories, and we always have fun at the awards party of course.
