ITBusiness.ca’s 2015 holiday video round-up

Delvinia's "Princess" Adam (CEO Adam Froman)

Ah, the holidays – that time of year marked by last-minute shopping, taking advantage of unused vacation time, sweater-based office parties – and Canadian companies using the wonderful world of online video to thank supporters for another great year. We’ve rounded up a few from the tech world and beyond to get you in the festive spirit.

Digital magician Zach King is known to millions of online fans for his Vine and YouTube videos, Instagram feed – and now, as star of Toronto-based digital marketing agency Klick Health‘s holiday video Zach King Brings Christmas Bling, where he helps a creative director deck his company’s halls with boughs of holly in the St. Nick of time for the office holiday party.

Calgary-based WestJet Airlines Ltd. recently scored a PR coup with its 2015 “Christmas Miracle” campaign, asking its employees – all 12,000 of them, spanning 10 time zones and more than 90 destinations – to complete one good deed each in 24 hours, on Wed. Dec. 9.

Not only did the resulting “12,000 mini miracles” video, produced by Toronto-based Studio M Digital Productions Inc., go viral, it was even featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where everyone in the audience was given two free round-trip tickets to Vancouver.

In honour of both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the end of another successful calendar year, Toronto-based digital consultants Delvinia released a year in review video that focused as much on its JibJab-esque take on “a boardroom far, far away” as on the company’s actual achievements over the course of 2015, including its AskingCanadians division landing on Deloitte Canada’s Technology Fast 50 for the second year in a row.

The self-proclaimed “advocate marketing experts” at Toronto B2B firm Influitive filmed their sales team receiving the greatest gift of all – positive feedback from customer advocates.

Meanwhile, Kitchener-based video marketing firm VidYard‘s holiday greeting features affable “customer appreciation response department” head Lewis Green considering a list of gifts he could potentially send to “the people who matter most” – like you!

Finally, the video networking, digital signage, and IP video distribution specialists at Haivision, which operates from headquarters in both Montreal and Chicago, simply filmed the ultimate holiday party, complete with a guy in a fabric shark suit.

And now, as ITBusiness.ca shuts down for the remainder of the season, happy holidays from our office to yours. We’ll be back with our first newsletter of 2016 on Jan. 4. See you next year!
