Liberal leadership candidate Justin Trudeau visited Ryerson University’s Digital Media Zone (DMZ) incubator last week, with the media in tow.

Trudeau’s campaign is using Soapbox, a product from one of the DMZ’s companies, Hitsend, as one of its tools for interacting with the public. Embedded into his web site, Soapbox allows citizens opinions to be collected, discussed, prioritized and implemented.

Trudeau was given a tour of the facilities by Ryerson president Sheldon levy, including Thumble and Ping Pong Story.

He’s not the first Liberal leadership candidate to campaign to the technology community. Marc Garneau, who has since dropped out of the race, used a Startup Grind Toronto event in March to make a pitch to boost startup investment with a capital gains tax exemption and an angel investor tax credit.
