Ladies Learning Code hits Xtreme Labs

HTML and mobility will be the topic tomorrow (Saturday, Jan. 19) as Xtreme Labs sponsors and hosts the not-for-profit group Ladies Learning Code group at its downtown Toronto office.

At the workshop, Xtreme Labs staff will mentor attendees as they learn how to navigate their way through building an HTML site, and specifically how to take an existing web site and make it mobile-friendly with HTML and CSS, including how to design for multiple screen sizes. It’s also promised that the mysteries of HTML5 will be unveiled.

Porting a web site to a mobile platform will be discussed at Saturday’s Ladies Learning Code session.

It will be the third Ladies Learning Code workshop hosted, sponsored and mentored by Xtreme Labs said Ruth Buder, public relations manager for Xtreme Labs, speaking to the product development company’s commitment to encouraging more women to enter the technology industry.

According to Buder, 22 per cent of the total Xtreme Labs workforce are female, including 17 per cent of the engineers, with tops the Engineers Canada reported percentage of female professional engineers from 2009 of 10.4 per cent.
