LaunchPad winner plans platform for women entrepreneurs

She took on some of the Waterloo region’s biggest challengers, and now Natalie MacNeil is ready to take on the world.

MacNeil was the grand prize winner in last week’s LauchPad event, a startup pitch contest that run by a group of local and angel investors called the Golden Triangle Angelnet. Her plan, for a Web-based training platform for female entrepreneurs, took first place with $50,000. She was also offered another $50,000 by local investors. This means MacNeil, who runs the Web sites She Takes On The World, will be able to launch the service this fall, she told the Kitchener-Waterloo Record.

Besides money, LaunchPad winners receive in-kind legal and financial support and mentorship programs. Other winners included Will Pwn 4 Food Inc., a game competition site, and Lumos, which provides analytic software for the gaming industry.
