Data loss prevention gateway adds to McAfee’s security risk management portfolio
McAfee Inc. announced McAfee Data Loss Prevention (DLP), the solution for preventing both accidental and malicious loss of confidential data
The launch of McAfee Data Loss Prevention Gateway complements McAfee Data Loss Prevention Host by delivering multi-layered protection that prevents data loss at the desktop and the gateway. McAfee DLP Gateway prevents data loss from guest laptops, non-Windows systems (e.g. Mac and Linux), servers, mobile devices and all other agent-less devices by blocking the transfer of confidential information at the gateway.
McAfee Data Loss Protection Host is available now, and McAfee Data Loss Prevention Gateway will be available May 2007.

Marshal delivers e-mail security solution for Managed and Internet Service Providers
Marshal launches a Service Provider Edition of its MailMarshal software. MailMarshal Service Provider Edition (SPE) provides managed service providers (MSPs) and Internet service providers (ISPs) with hosted e-mail security services that can be tailored to their customers’ specific requirements. Services offered include e-mail filtering, policy control, archiving, reporting and the ability to grant differing levels of administration access rights to service providers’ customers’ own administrators.
MailMarshal SPE’s centralized management console allows MSP/ISP staff to manage policies, user accounts and messages spread across multiple servers located in geographically distributed locations. MailMarshal’s Array Manager Architecture lends itself to a hosted environment.
MailMarshal SPE offers service providers tailor their e-mail security services – and grant different levels of administration access rights – to match the particular requirements of each customer. For example:
- Policy control: inbound and outbound e-mail policy control can be tailored to meet customer requirements, with service providers able to offer pre-set levels of policy control, or individually customizable policies, for each customer;
- Archiving: e-mail archives can be set up to be searchable by the service provider or the customer;
- Reporting: Customers can be offered the ability to run their own reports in real-time or run at pre-set intervals. Reports can cover a range of criteria including the number of viruses blocked, the volume of spam that has been filtered and many more.
MailMarshal SPE is available immediately. Marshal offers a number of flexible subscription pricing arrangements for service providers, based on the total number of active users they are hosting.

Nayatek releases Sunbelt Messaging Ninja V2.1 with multiple disclaimer functionality
Nayatek announced the release of Sunbelt Messaging Ninja version 2.1, the all-in-one e-mail security product for Microsoft Exchange. Features in Ninja 2.1 include disclaimer functionality, an antispam engine for spam detection and console management enhancements. Messaging Ninja provides integrated antispam, antivirus, disclaimers and attachment filtering with an extendable plug-in architecture.
Ninja’s disclaimer plug-in delivers functionality to include global and user-based disclaimers for outbound e-mail for Exchange 2000 and 2003. Administrators have the ability to configure policy-based disclaimers based on specific users, groups, domains or public folders. User-based disclaimers enable users to adjust their disclaimer statements according to a specific user or department. Ninja also prevents multiple disclaimers when replying or forwarding and gives administrators the ability to allow users to bypass the disclaimer on a per e-mail basis.
Additionally, disclaimer templates are included to allow set up of disclaimers using HTML or plain text. Template samples include legal disclaimers, virus warning disclaimers, copyright disclaimers and more. Reports are also available that provide detailed information on the use of disclaimers within the organization.
For its antispam capabilities, Ninja uses two scanning engines: Cloudmark’s and Sunbelt’s. Version 2.1 includes the Cloudmark antispam engine with enhancements that detect of the spam variants including image spam. Additionally, administrators now have the ability to adjust the efficacy of spam detection while tuning the amount of resources available to the engine.
Database management tools allow administrators to purge old records from existing databases and compress Microsoft Access databases. Enhanced proxy support has also been added for systems that utilize NTLM authentication.
