Mineral exploration firm uses Windows-based tablets to woo investors

“There’s an app for that” is an Apple marketing slogan that’s become part of popular culture in the last year or so. But it doesn’t mean that it’s always true, at least not in the business world.

When Toronto-based mineral exploration company Noront Resources wanted an application to demonstrate the value of its northern Ontario site to potential investors, it couldn’t work with Apple’s platform to make it happen. Instead it turned to Windows-based Asus tablets as the mobile device of choice. Using a customized version of geographic information software Falcon Eye from Microsoft partner Infusion, this small mining company got a slick way to show off its assets on the long flight to Ontario’s remote north country.
