Network management gets SaaS-y

The OmniCenter OnDemand is a suite of network management products from Netreo Inc., designed to meet the requirements of small and medium- sized businesses. Based upon the appliance-based OmniCenter technology, it delivers the features and tools of OmniCenter in a software-as-a-service (SaaS) suite. This allows SMBs to enjoy device management, configuration management, performance management and real-time fault management. SMBs also gain visibility into the network and application infrastructure, including routers, servers, switches, wireless devices, firewalls and VPN devices. Customers can remotely monitor and manage infrastructure over a secure Web connection, with minimal training and no client software required other than a standard Web browser.

Ready to store
Infrant Technologies, a provider of network-based storage (NAS), has unveiled a product for businesses ranging from small- and mid-sized offices to small- and mid-sized enterprises. The ReadyNAS 1100 sports a compact 12-inch-deep field-serviceable 1U chassis (enabling back-to-back mounting in a four-post data rack) and has a typical power consumption of 75 watts with four hard drives – so a 20-AMP rack of 1100s touts 90 terabytes of storage. Additionally, the 1100 has dual 1-Gigabit Ethernet ports, full-hardware RAID (0, 1, 5, X-RAID) acceleration and the ability to support up to four hot-swappable SATA hard drives. The ReadyNAS 1100 is built around an enterprise-hardened Linux operating system and Infrant’s custom network storage processor (NSP), requiring no additional software installation or per-user licensing agreements.
