Cisco division Linksys has announced its first line of network attached storage solutions for SMBs. The line includes the: 4 Bay Advanced Gigabit Network Storage System Chassis (NSS6000), 4 Bay Advanced Gigabit Network Storage System Chassis With 1.0TB RAID (NSS6100), 4 Bay Gigabit Network Storage System Chassis (NSS4000) and 4 Bay Gigabit Network Storage System Chassis With 1.0TB RAID (NSS4100).Linksys Small Business Network Storage Systems chassis do not include hard drives, so a small business can choose the capacity that best addresses its business needs. Installation is quick and no installation CD is required. Linksys does not place proprietary code or drivers on the hard drives, enabling easy “hot swapping” or interchanging of the drives. On-disc file encryption makes secure off-site backup, archiving and data migration possible for small businesses with stringent requirements for data integrity, such as those in healthcare, or at law offices or accounting firms.

Ricoh Corporation, a provider of digital office equipment, has launched the Ricoh Aficio MP 1600/MP 2000 Series. These digital imaging systems allow users to copy, print, scan and fax all from one compact system. The MP 1600spf and MP 2000spf are pre-configured and offer digital copying, printing, scanning and faxing standard. In addition, Ricoh has launched the MP 1600L/MP 2000L Series, which provides copying, PCL6 printing and TWAIN scanning capabilities and is well suited for the Windows-based environments of small businesses, workgroups and offices that require a budget-friendly package.

With the release of NetSupport Canada‘s NetSupport DNA 2.7 (Dynamic Network Administration) software, IT professionals at small and mid-sized companies have an affordable system to keep IT costs in check. In addition to the existing Windows and Linux support, NetSupport DNA’s custom Query and Reporting Tool now encompasses an automated Scheduler and the option to assign custom data views to specific operators. Also included is the ability to automatically assign restrictions on application use by department and a powerful data cache controller for networks with high data volumes. NetSupport DNA 2.7 includes hardware and software inventory, software distribution, application and web metering, query-based reporting, alerting, a Web-based help desk component and remote control functionality.
Switching channels
TalkSwitch, a designer and manufacturer of telephone systems for small and multi-location businesses, signed a formal distribution agreement with D&H Distributing that will see D&H market TalkSwitch systems to its network of reseller agents. TalkSwitch telephone systems are true hybrid IP PBXs ideal for businesses with 1 to 32 telephone users per office location. Systems come with all the features and call-handling capabilities a small business requires, according to the company, and provide connections to both the traditional as well as IP networks. As well, each local extension on a TalkSwitch system can be configured as either analog or IP.
