New site brings business intelligence tools to Canadian SMBs

SAS is teaming up with Info-Tech Research Group on a new business intelligence portal for Canada’s small and medium sized businesses.

The Canada’s Smartest IT site features over 200 pieces of originalInfo-Tech research and other content on business intelligence (BI),including white papers, case studies, videos and other tools. The siteis focused on six main topics: business analytics, cloud computing,collaboration, green IT, managed risk and infrastructure.

The portal is aimed at tapping into the growing demand for BI toolsamong SMBs. SAS Canada said over 35 percent of its customer base isSMBs and over 75 per cent of its new commercial accounts since 2011have been SMBs.  

While BI analytics tools are commonly used by larger enterprise, theycan sometimes be costly and time consuming for SMBs to adopt, saidJames Alexander, senior vice-president and general manager at Info-TechResearch Group.

“When making the transition to a data driven business model, SMBs needa toolset that can be deployed quickly with a low total cost ofownership and this project with SAS helps equip businesses to make theright decisions about their BI needs,” Alexander said.

SAS Canada, the Canadian division of U.S.-based software firm SAS, isheadquartered in Toronto with offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa,Quebec City and Montreal. It employs 240 people in Canada. Info-Tech isa 14-year-old research firm based in London, Ont. whose analysts covervarious IT sectors.
