Certicom launches UMAÂ device software for mobility market
Certicom launched Certicom UMA Device Software, a software developer module for device manufacturers to implement the unlicensed mobile access (UMA) protocol.
UMA addresses the fixed mobile convergence (FMC) market by enabling a mobile device to access the core of a cellular network using an IP connection that is secured by a standard IPSec VPN. When using UMA, mobile devices will have the same features they get when connected on the standard GSM cellular network.
Pricing depends on the customer’s platform requirements and includes developer licences, royalties, support and integration services. For more information, visit www.certicom.com/uma.

WhiteSmoke provides grammar engine
WhiteSmoke announced the release of their grammar engine for WhiteSmoke Writing Software. This grammar engine furthers WhiteSmoke’s commitment to provide users with grammar checker available.
One of the key areas in the research and development of this release was that of missing words within a sentence. WhiteSmoke can accurately detect many unique cases of missing words, even in complex sentence constructions, and suggest the appropriate solution.
Another area of research for this release was agreement-related problems within a sentence. The second generation grammar engine features enhanced detection algorithms for subject-verb agreement, number (determiner-noun) agreement and auxiliary-verb agreement. On analyzing a sentence, the extensive database of written English examples is cross-referenced for related entries. Then, by situating the appropriate parts of speech in the context of the sentence or phrase, agreement problems are corrected.
