B2B marketplace services provider Expert Market has decided to crunch some numbers and identify the best cities for technically inclined Canadians to work – and, equally importantly, live – in.
The company delved into nine tech-friendly cities across Canada, measuring and ranking them based on seven key factors: level of employment in the industry; average salary for tech roles; wage growth rates; gender diversity; cost of living; average rent; and average commute time.
With these factors in mind it was Ottawa – not, say, Vancouver or Kitchener-Waterloo – that came out on top in the company’s rankings.
“We understand that a city is somewhere you live, not just somewhere you work, and it’s important to remember this and consider things such as rent costs and commuting time when looking into where you should launch and grow your business,” the company wrote in a preamble to its findings.
