In time for the holiday season, Vancouver retail startup SpotsHUB has launched a free, same-day delivery service which could have some last-minute shoppers rejoicing.
SpotsHUB specializes in toys and gifts. Its fleet of 20 environmentally-friendly, hybrid vehicles that it uses to bring items from its 15,000 sqft warehouse to Vancouverites. The company has ambitions to grow across Canada and North America starting in 2016.
Customers need to place their order before 2 p.m., and it will be delivered free on the same-day by 9 p.m. in the Lower Mainland. For those outside of the Vancouver region, next-day delivery is available.
Many online retailers have been using same-day delivery to provide a more immediate shopping experience. Canada Post, for instance, offers its “Delivered Tonight” service in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal that ensures e-commerce orders placed in the early afternoon are delivered in the evening.
Online retail heavyweight Amazon offers same-day delivery in two Canadian cities, Toronto and Vancouver, charging Amazon Prime members $6.99 per delivery. To ensure that packages arrive within the same day, the order needs to be placed at noon local time and it’s available seven days a week.
Reducing wait times for packages will undoubtedly help those who leave holiday shopping until the last minute. No wonder it’s in such high demand.
