SAS offers Profitability Manager for business execs
SAS said Profitability Management, which is designed to facilitate faster, better decisions on product-mix, customer-mix, and marketing or sales programs, will ship in Q4 2006.
Business managers can track the profit performance of customer groups or individual customers; product groups or individual SKUs; channels or specific branches. This drill-down view into revenue, cost and asset categories enables them to manage profit as a performance metric. Such a level of granularity has not been possible with traditional activity-based costing systems, according to SAS.
SAS Profitability Management is built on the SAS Enterprise Intelligence Platform, which integrates individual technology components within the existing IT infrastructure into a single, unified system.
Visual CE 10 aimed at mobile users
Syware, Inc. announced Visual CE 10, a mobile database development tool. Released in conjunction with Visual CE 10 is Manage CE. Manage CE allows an administrator to configure and reconfigure remote devices from a central site. This allows new or updated applications and other files to be distributed to users without their returning to the office or having to do anything at all except perform routine synchronization. In addition, when a device is lost or stolen, an administrator can remotely purge applications and files from the device, keeping sensitive data secure.
Visual CE 10 includes a macro editor. The macro editor allows non-programmers to add sophisticated logic to their applications by guiding them through the process of creating well-structured, well-documented macros.
Visual CE 10 includes spport for the Windows CE Universal Camera API, custom color capability, navigational dropdown lists, tap and hold to cut, copy, and paste, and grid control enhancements.
Visual CE 10 applications can be created for any Microsoft Windows Mobile, Windows CE, Pocket PC, or Pocket PC Phone Edition handheld. Visual CE Personal Edition, with full forms design, relational database, and synchronization capabilities, is priced at $129.
Visual CE Professional Edition, which includes all the features of the Personal Edition as well as royalty-free distribution rights, is priced at $399.
