IdeaConnection of Victoria, BC will release this June, a crowdfunding service targeted at scientists, engineers, innovators and inventors.

The startup, according to Techvibes, is offering money to initial projects to “seed” their system. IdeaConnection will be contributing $250 to the first five entries in each of its categories, which include “Patent Your Invention” and “Fund your Startup.”
Canadian small businesses have been clamouring for local crowdfunding services.

Beaucoo of Calgary is a super fun app for iPhone that makes it easy for women to find friends with similar body dimensions and discover great clothes and clothing stores together, according to its founder Christian MacLean.
You signup, provide your waist, hip and bust dimensions and it shows you pictures of people just like you. Pictures of women wearing clothes they’ve tried on in stores they’ve shopped in and how those clothes fit. You’ll be able to discover new stores, new fashion, and new friends.
“But it gets better – when you’re out shopping – snap a picture of the shirt, skirt, dress, or pants you’ve tried on and provide a quick rating using Beaucoo,” said MacLean in an interview with Startup Calgary.
What’s more Beaucoo is offering shoppers a $100 gift certificate to the clothing store of their choice and an invite to their VIP beta testing group to the women who can help us get the most signups through the company Web site.

Helping businesses get better hires
Having a hard time finding help? ClearFit of Toronto might just have the answer for your woes.
The company offers a software product that helps businesses hire new employees based on cultural fit and experience.
Other companies like RoundPegg and Taleo offer to help out in the hiring and screening process, but Clearfit distinguishes its self by partnering with large companies in the small business space, including CareerBuilder and Adecco, according to startup publication Sprouter.
ClearFit was named one of IDC’s Ten Canadian Cloud Companies to Watch, and has expanded operations beyond their Toronto office to a second office in San Francisco, said founder Ben Baldwin.
ClearFit also plans to partner with other professional and job oriented sites such as Monster.com, LinkedIn, and Craigslist.
