Barracuda Tools release DeliverPoint user management tool foe SharePoint
Barracuda Tools releases DeliverPoint, an enterprise-wide user management tool for Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and Windows SharePoint Services farm deployments.
DeliverPoint allows user and group account management at the farm, virtual server, site path, site collection and Web levels. Administrators are able to clone, delete and transfer permissions and alerts.
DeliverPoint will retail for US$4995 after August 1. However, Barracuda Tools is introducing DeliverPoint with a price of US$3495 until July 31. Non-profits, government and educational institutions will have special pricing beyond the introductory price.
Lenovo introduces 3000 V100 for SMBs
Lenovo unveiled a small form widescreen notebook PC, the Lenovo 3000 V100, designed for SMB customers. The laptop weighs four pounds and offers a 12.1-inch widescreen display and a dual-core processor.
Lenovo also offers a one-button system recovery to help users diagnose and recover systems to a previously saved state following software failures. Lenovo also offers its own automatic updates that download and install critical updates for Lenovo software on a user-configured schedule.
The V100 is available with Intel Core Duo processors, an integrated optical drive and offers connectivity features such as integrated 802.11a/b/g wireless LAN and 10/100 Ethernet on all models, with Bluetooth available as an option on select models. The V100 incorporates a five-in-one multi-card reader for downloading pictures from multiple types of memory cards, three USB ports and a 1394 and VGA port.
The Lenovo V100 is available now with pricing starting at $1199.
Open Text delivers Contract Management with SAP integration
Open Text Corp. announced the release of a contract management application. Open Text Contract Management 1.0 provides role-based views into all contract documents and SAP solution-based data to help companies streamline processes, increase consistency and enhance regulatory compliance.
SAP xApps composite applications combines Web services and data from multiple systems in an application design based on SAP composite tools such as the SAP Composite Application Framework (SAP CAF) within the SAP NetWeaver platform. The Open Text Contract Management solution takes advantage of this platform to manage contract documents across multiple departments and user roles. The application helps companies using SAP NetWeaver Portal to automatically track and manage contracts and related documents in one packaged application that builds on IT environments.
Using the new contract management solution, enterprises can store and access contracts from a central location, with transparent authentication using SAP single sign-on. It also provides multiple views based on the user’s role, such as account manager, internal sales support, contract administrator or sales manager.
Microsoft announces addition to Visual Studio Product Line
Microsoft Corp. released Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionals.
This new new addition to the Team System is designed to manage database changes with integrated change management functionality. In addition, the product features integrated database testing, including support for database unit tests, test authoring and generation of test data.
The first CTP of Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionals will be available for download from the company’s site, with the final version expected ship by the end of 2006.
