Canadian star athletes collaborate with Insight on teamwork and technology webinar

Women’s hockey pioneer Manon Rhéaume and former CFL stars ‘Pinball’ Clemons and Scott Macdonell join Insight to discuss the parallels of teamwork in sports and the workplace

TEMPE, Ariz., March 22, 2021 – Insight Enterprises (NASDAQ:NSIT), the global integrator of Insight Intelligent Technology Solutions™ for organizations of all sizes, will host a panel of professional Canadian athletes for a discussion on the “Cultures of Collaboration,” how teamwork in sports translates to the workplace, taking place Wednesday at 1 p.m. EST.

Guest speakers include legendary Canadian Football League player Michael “Pinball” Clemons, now the general manager of the Toronto Argonauts, for which he’s six Grey Cup championships as both player, coach and executive; Manon Rhéaume, Olympic hockey silver medalist and the first woman to compete in a major North American sport when she joined the National Hockey League’s Tampa Bay Lightning in 1992; and Scott Macdonell, former Grey Cup champion and now an advanced networking and security solutions specialist for Insight Canada.

John Dathan, Insight Canada senior vice president and general manager, will lead the panel discussion, as Clemons, Rhéaume and Macdonell share personal stories on the power of being a team player. The group will share perspectives on the dynamics of successful teamwork, including the traits any organization needs to win together.

“As I’ve transitioned from competitive sports to executive leadership roles, the core dynamics of collaboration hold true regardless of what field you play on,” said Clemons. “Communication combined with the ability to motivate and delegate are essential. So, too, are organizational skills like developing pre-game strategies and keeping the team focused on knocking out goals. Self-discipline and exercising resilience when challenges arise also are so critical to a team’s success.”

The virtual event also explores how technology for the next-generation workplace can enhance company culture and make collaboration easier. Guest speakers from some of Insight’s top solution provider partners include: Google’s Mike Daoust, managing director, Chrome Enterprise customer team; Gabe Knuth, senior product line marketing manager at VMware; Cam Smith, senior product marketing manager for teamwork for Microsoft Canada; and Michael Davis, a Dell Technologies national client technologist.

“We’ve had to lean on our teams and trust them more than ever over the past year of mostly working apart,” said Insight’s Dathan. “For both leaders and teammates, this has been a great learning opportunity. We’ve relied on digital collaboration tools, mobile applications and e-commerce platforms to maintain our personal connections to our workmates and stay on the same page with our customers – and we’ve seen that we can be just as productive and cohesive when the right game plans are in place to make the most out of these resources.”
