Toronto, ON Canada – April 21, 2020: hEr VOLUTION has formed a strategic partnership with Alexio Corporation. The goal is to raise funds in support of young women at risk with access to technology and STEM-based education. Learning is transitioning online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but many families have no access to the internet, or computers at home, and many young women will not be able to obtain the education they deserve. This will most likely affect young women from low-income families long after isolation, as times are unpredictable, and so is the future of education for many.
hEr VOLUTION, an organization that focuses on providing access to STEM education for young women from low-income households, is currently finding it challenging when it comes to helping the most vulnerable transition to online learning. According to Statistics Canada, 28% of Canadians do not have internet at home, because they cannot afford it.
“We have seen numerous young women deal with this challenge first-hand in our programs. We know now that learning is not accessible to everyone and, for that reason, we are very excited to partner with Alexio Corporation and raise funds for this cause. It will mean more access to technology, internet at home and STEM education – which is now more important than ever for girls from low-income households.” says Doina Oncel, Founder and CEO of hEr VOLUTION.
hEr VOLUTION has been supported by Alexio Corporation in the past, having benefitted from sponsorship support for the 2017 and 2018 Women in STEM conferences.
