TEMPE, Ariz., February 9, 2021 – Insight Enterprises (NASDAQ:NSIT), the global integrator of Insight Intelligent Technology Solutions™ for organizations of all sizes, today announced its Canadian operations landed on the 2021 Montréal’s Top Employers list, published annually by the Montreal Gazette and Mediacorp Canada Inc. as a part of Canada’s Top 100 Employers project.
Now in its 16th year, Montréal’s Top Employers list recognizes the employers in Greater Montréal that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. To select the winners, each submission is judged by rigorous criteria in eight areas including: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation/time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.
Even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Insight Canada successfully integrated 600 new teammates nationwide – including 150 in Montréal – significantly growing to 900 total full-time employees as a result of Insight’s acquisition of PCM, Inc. in August 2019. This acclimation to culture, systems and processes occurred as Insight transitioned most of its nearly 550 Montréal teammates to work from home when shelter-in-place orders were issued.
Insight stood up a now proprietary virtual desktop infrastructure solution within a day, allowing teammates to securely access work desktops remotely from work or personal devices. The team also received soft-skills training on effectively working and collaborating virtually. The company also quickly implemented telemedicine options, providing employees with free access to health care providers around the clock, and paid extra attention to any employees who were living alone. In addition, Insight temporarily increased the hourly rate of the staff who had to work from the office during lockdown.
“We’ve expanded our reach substantially in the past year, growing into a top three solution provider in Canada, even as the environment around us has significantly shifted,” said John Dathan, senior vice president and general manager, Insight Canada. “It’s been a top priority to make that transition as smooth as possible for both our teammates and our clients, who’ve needed us now more than ever to help transform to digital ways of working and engaging customers in this new era of business, and we’ve succeeded at doing so.”
Insight conducts annual teammate pulse surveys (TPS), gauging workplace satisfaction through anonymous employee feedback. In 2020, Insight’s Montréal operations saw its highest ever TPS score. Teammates also used Insight’s peer recognition platform, Recognize!, 9,221 times last year, demonstrating the company’s spirit of harmony and collaboration.
At its Montréal-based Canadian headquarters, distribution center and service labs, the company deployed its proprietary Internet of Things platform, the Insight Connected Platform™, to help detect and prevent the spread of viruses. Smart devices like thermal cameras and kiosks, room occupancy sensors and contact tracing solutions enhance physical preventative and social distancing measures to ensure the wellbeing of a limited population of teammates working on-site.
The Montréal team also lives up to the company’s hunger, heart and harmony values through community outreach, helping 23 charities in 2020. As an example, in early 2020, Insight Canada furnished a newly updated technology room for the Summit School, a school in Saint-Laurent, Quebec, for more than 600 students with special needs. Insight donated new computers, keyboards and accessories; further, when the pandemic hit and students were forced to continue education remotely, Insight and one of its partners donated 25 Lenovo Chromebooks to keep teachers and students online.
“We are so grateful that in a time of crisis, our friends at Insight were able to literally answer the call and find a way for our students to connect with their teachers, friends and classmates,” said Stu Guttman, director of development at Summit School.
