Who will be named to the 2021 Top Women in Cybersecurity Honour Roll?

The search is on again for Canada’s top women in cybersecurity.

IT World Canada (ITWC), the Women in Security & Resilience Alliance (WISECRA) and the Canadian Women in Security Forum have joined forces to launch the second annual Top Women in Cybersecurity recognition program.

The Top Women in Cybersecurity initiative was established to recognize women who have driven the Canadian security industry forward. In 2020, the honour roll opportunity attracted more than 170 nominations from across Canada and all sectors.

“Although while women hold only a small fraction of the available positions in cybersecurity positions, that is changing and there is an appetite to celebrate their impressive achievements,” said Fawn Annan, President & CMO of ITWC. “It would have been very difficult not to do this again.”

Why nominate?

“We are looking for women who are advancing and shaping the industry and making a difference for Canadians through their work and commitment to enhancing cybersecurity,” says Bonnie Butlin, Founder and International Coordinator of WISECRA, a global network of more than 60 women in security and cybersecurity organizations globally. “This initiative is not only a celebration of exceptional Canadian women but also a celebration alongside outstanding women in cybersecurity and security from around the world, who are being similarly recognized by WISECRA and its partners.”

“We are pleased to have the support of the Canadian Women in Security Forum, a new organization that has grown significantly in the last year, and reflects the growing interest in the profession,” said Butlin.

Sponsors of the program and celebration on July 28 are Aptum and VMware. Additional supporting organizations include the Women in Cybersecurity (Ontario), Willis College, and the WIT Network.
