MARCH 8, 2022: The search for Canada’s top female cybersecurity champions was launched today, International Women’s Day.
IT World Canada (ITWC), the Women in Security & Resilience Alliance (WISECRA) and the Canadian Women in Security Forum announced the opening of nominations for the third annual Canada’s Top Women in Cybersecurity recognition program.
The prestigious initiative was established to recognize women who have driven the Canadian cybersecurity industry forward. In 2021, the honour roll opportunity attracted more than 150 nominations from across Canada and all sectors.
“Cybersecurity threats continue to pose a significant challenge to organizations of every kind,” said Fawn Annan, CEO of ITWC. “By acknowledging and celebrating the critical role women are playing in the fight, we are inviting the next generation of women to take their place in a field that is remains stubbornly male-dominated.”
Change the future
“We are looking for women who are advancing and shaping the industry and making a difference for Canadians through their work and commitment to enhancing cybersecurity,” says Bonnie Butlin, Founder and International Coordinator of WISECRA, a global network of more than 60 women in security and cybersecurity organizations globally.
“This initiative showcases exceptional Canadian women, providing them the opportunity to stand alongside outstanding women in cybersecurity from around the world who are being similarly recognized by WISECRA and its partners.”
