Dell has updated its XPS laptop lineup with several new devices, including the XPS 12 2-in-1, the ultra-mobile XPS 13 notebook and the XPS 15 performance laptop. The new premium consumer laptops boast high performance 6th generation Intel Core processors and sleeker hardware that’s designed to deliver an enhanced Windows 10 experience.
“Beginning with CES 2015, when we first unveiled the world’s smallest laptop – the XPS 13 with our exclusive InfinityEdge display – the world took notice of the innovations coming out of Dell that no other laptop manufacturer was offering,” said Frank Azor, general manager of Dell XPS, in a statement. “Today we are further demonstrating our commitment to innovation and design.”
Dell says its goal with the XPS 12 2-in-1 was to perfect the laptop to tablet experience. The new model is designed to easily switch between laptop and tablet modes thanks to a magnetic connection which allows a user to make the switch with one hand. A 4K Ultra HD display option is available, and 8MP world-facing, 5MP user-facing cameras are integrated. It also comes with a mobility base, including a full-size backlit keyboard and precision touchpad.
Dell’s new XPS 13 laptop features 6th generation Intel Core processors and graphics, a range of new storage and memory options including 16GB RAM and up to a 1TB PCIe SSD — all inside what the vendor claims is the world’s smallest 13″ laptop. It’s Dell’s first model with it’s “virtually borderless” InfinityEdge display, and boasts over 18 hours of battery life.
Dell’s XPS 15 laptop also features its new “virtually borderless” InfinityEdge display and is also being called the world’s smallest 15″ laptop, at 11-17mm thin and 3.9 lbs. It’s a performance model with an UltraSharp 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) resolution option. It’s powered by 6th generation Intel Core processors, Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics, up to 16GB of high-performance memory and up to a 1TB hard drive or 1TB PCIe SSD.
