Dell’s new Vostro notebooks aimed at small businesses

Small businesses, home offices and mobile professionals are the target market for the new generation of Dell’s Vostro line of productivity notebooks. The Vostro 14 and 15 3000 Series business notebooks balance refined designed with affordability according to Dell and feature the latest generation processors from Intel and discrete graphics from Nvidia. The 14″ Vostro 3000 Series and 15″ Vostro 15 3000 series are both priced at $449 and are now available in Canada, according to Dell’s announcement, but on its website configurations start at $641.

“We are launching these new products and expanding the availability of our Vostro line in response to feedback from customers who are seeking this business solution from Dell, and input from our valued channel partners,” said Phil Bryant, vice-president of consumer and small business sales for Dell, in a statement. “The Vostro line has long been synonymous with productivity for the working professional and small businesses, and the next generation Vostro 3000 Series notebooks will pack the optimal processors, graphics options, connectivity ports and design details to help customers or business users get more done during their workday.”

Latest Intel processors and Nvidia graphics

The new notebooks aim to balance features and performance for working professionals that need fast processing power and business features. Users can choose from the latest 5th generation Intel processors up to the Intel Core i5 chipset. Dell is promising up to nine hours of battery life for the Vostro 14 and a precise eight hours and 42 minutes for the Vostro 15. Users that have a need for more demanding graphics-rich applications or heavy multi-tasking can choose a model with up to 2GB of Nvidia discrete graphics and up to 8GB of RAM. An up to 1TB hard drive is supported.

Slimmer than previous generation

From a design perspective, the new Vostro 3000 series models are less than 1” thin, an improvement in slimness from the previous generation models. The Vostro notebooks are available in Solid Black with a micro-stripe textured cover that Dell claims enhances tactility so it’s less prone to scratches that can occur as a business users commutes with the device and uses it every day. The new models also feature an optical drive, VGA output, anti-glare FHD display, Gigabit Ethernet, and a 10-key numeric pad on the 15″ model.
