It’s a smart watch showdown! In this office battle, Brian Jackson, editor of ITBusiness.ca, argues that the Pebble Time is the smart watch we’ve been waiting on. But Paolo Del Nibletto, editor of Computer Dealer News, brushes off the hype and points out smart watches are nothing new.
From Brian’s point of view, the colour display of the Pebble Time, it’s ease of use, and long-lasting battery life have the makings of a great product. He points to the success of the Kickstarter campaign as proof this is going to compete in the marketplace. What’s more, the smart strap accessories will give people more options to make use of their device and create a developer community.
On the other hand (wrist?) Paolo is a watch connoisseur and already has an impressive collection of smart watches, including the Epson Pulsense. He feels the Pebble Time design is too boxy, and lacks the sleek look fashionable users will demand. It also falls short of the functionality of the Pulsense, which can monitor your heart rate out of the box.
