Huawei P20/P20 Pro coming to Canada from ALL major carriers – All Hands on Tech first look

NEW YORK – It looks like Huawei’s P-Series is here to stay in Canada. After a limited release last year with the P10, the Chinese smartphone maker will be bringing the P20 and P20 Pro to Canada later this year across all major carriers.

If the P20 Series and Samsung Galaxy S9 are any indication, this year we’ll be seeing a whole lot of focus on low-light photography, and the P20 Pro certainly takes a significant leap forward in that department. This time on All Hands on Tech, we got to take a first look at the new P20 and P20 Pro at a Huawei event in New York City. You can check out our first look video above.

We couldn’t test out the significant focus put on improving low-light smartphone photography on a sunny day, but with a triple-rear camera and AI Image Stabilization, if the P20 Pro works as advertised, it could be one of the best cameras available on a smartphone.

Canadian availability and pricing is yet to be announced, but the P10 last year came to Canada in June after a similar release (the P20 and P20 Pro are available in select markets today), so expect a similar time frame.

And it looks like the problems Huawei is having in the United States don’t extend to Canada – both the P20 and P20 Pro will be available at Rogers, Telus, Bell, Videotron, Koodo, Fido, and Virgin.
